Women's Day: International holiday or symbol of change?

A group of gutsy women, fed up with the appalling working conditions and wages of the textile industry, took to the streets in protest (Bonus fact: This was also one of the first ever organized strikes of working women! Talk about courage!).This day set the stage for what would later become International Women's Day. Fast forward to 1909,?the socialist political party in NYC organized the first "Women's Day". Germany caught wind of the idea and ran with it, turning it into an annual affair. Soon, Europe was full of demonstrations and commemorations on this special day.?
