Women's Day: Building the Future We Deserve

Women's Day: Building the Future We Deserve

March marks the start of many important moments: more sunlight, the first day of Spring, and of course, the celebration of women’s achievements, past, present, and future.

In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, we’re spotlighting the women of the present -- our struggles, our aspirations, our life’s journeys – and how a legal plan can help build the future we want.

How are women feeling?

Let’s face it: In the current climate, there’s a lot we could worry about. From climate change to economic uncertainty, dread and burnout are realities we’re all facing.

Women in particular are concerned about worsening financial pressures. According to Gender on the Ballot’s 2023 “She Votes: Women’s Voices at the Forefront,” women are anxious about inflation and the future of the United States. Not only that, but social justice issues, political polarization, and climate change are also weighing heavily on women’s minds. Lastly, on a more personal level, women feel apprehensive about being unable to achieve financial security and affording retirement.

It likely comes as no surprise that women aren’t always set up for success either, especially in comparison to our male peers. According to MetLife’s annual trends study, women are 78% more likely to be lower income than men; 20% less likely to feel financially healthy; and 25% less likely to be on track to reach financial goals. Those are some pretty big discrepancies!

?What are women’s main goals?

Thanks to results from the trends study, we know paying down debt and being able to save is the top goal on woman’s minds. From juggling pop-up problems like car repair or traffic violations, to milestone moments like buying a house, or just simply getting by every month, it can feel impossible to keep up. Taking care of debt and contributing to savings ladder up to the bigger goal (and one of women’s biggest anxieties) of achieving financial security, present and future.1

And the third goal? Improving holistic health.

All three of these goals connect and overlap. After all, financial stability has a huge impact on our emotional and physical health.

So, how can a legal plan help?

You’re probably wondering how a legal plan factors into all this.

In addition to base benefits, like health coverage, a voluntary benefit like a legal plan can help provide women a financial safety net. With so many issues affecting our day-to-day life – from inflation and a pending recession to juggling work and home life issues – opting into a legal plan helps with moments expected and unexpected, including:

  • Money matters (debt collection, identity theft, taxes)
  • Future planning (estate planning including wills, trusts, and power of attorney)
  • Tennant Issues (disagreements over repairs, eviction, security deposits)
  • Traffic violations (tickets, license suspension)
  • Injury and insurance (insurance claims, caregiving, property damage)
  • Real estate (buying, selling, refinancing)

Legal issues, like life, can be expensive. Enrolling in a legal plan helps take the guesswork out of all these legal issues by providing access to a network of trusted attorneys at a low, monthly cost. (Versus the exorbitant hourly rate charged by many attorneys!)

With a legal plan, women can take steps to build and protect not just the future we want, but the future we deserve.
