#WomenAtCPA: Nancy Seal

Before you can say “go,” Nancy Seal is already there. The IT client support area manager is always in motion to stay ahead of the evolving information technology field and the needs of CPA employees.

“I have been in this role a long time,” Seal reflects. “From when I started 16 years ago to what I’m doing today, it has changed.”

Her title may be the same, but her duties have grown to incorporate oversight of additional CPA teams, including Telecom Review, Mobile Device Management, Workstation Security, and Operations and Print Production.

To manage more than 50 professionals and provide 24/7 service, Seal constantly plans to ensure her staff have the tools and training to properly manage the business. She also looks for automation and efficiency improvements – the complete equipment upgrade and remodel to the Operations and Print Production facility is an example.

“Yes, there are challenges. But we get through them, and we make them a success,” Seal says.

She implemented cross training to better serve a large, diverse agency and withstand events, such as the COVID pandemic and ice storms, that threatened to interrupt operations.

“We put the pedal to the metal with that,” Seal says of the cross training. “I have a dedicated team of professionals who take it very seriously.”

A detail-oriented leader, she strives to build strong teams but makes a point to solicit their input. This, in turn, drives employee performance to deliver higher levels of customer support and meet business goals.

Learning and listening have aided Seal in her career as have executive leaders whose guidance helped her hone her management skills.

To those seeking leadership positions, Seal advises working hard every day and being driven to learn the business or trade. She encourages those new to leadership to understand the big picture outside of their immediate area or job and always take the high road through diplomacy and respect to everyone.

“I want to promote people and success,” she emphasizes. “I have great pride in seeing that the people we have brought in move on and move up into higher-level positions. We want to be that catalyst to help them get to the next step.”

Laser focused when on the job, Seal makes time to recharge her batteries. She enjoys spending time with her husband of 30-plus years, traveling, being outdoors, swimming and fishing in Wyoming.

Well deserved. Congratulations Nancy. Always doing great things!
