Women In The Workplace
As a long-time supporter of Women in Business, I like to keep track of progress. One of the tools I use is McKinsey & Company's annual Women In The Workplace report. I've just finished going through the 2024 report and, quite frankly, not enough progress is being made.
If you'd like to review the complete report, you can access it here:
Here are some of the things that stood out for me
While there have been modest gains since 2015, at the more senior levels, women still fall far short of being at 50% in corporate roles.
This might be the most alarming chart from the report. Why does it need to take another 22 years for White women to reach parity and another 48 years for women of color?
In every study, women consistently beat men in all but one category of the critical soft skills needed in business. Why are soft skills being overlooked when it comes to women?
I'll close by just reminding people - particuarly men in business - to be very careful how you manage and support women in business because one day you may end up working for one.
