Meet Precious L. Williams
"The world's most prominent women leaders show the importance of honesty, courage, impact, and decisive action in leadership." - Oprah Winfrey
Poet, professor, and civil rights activist, Maya Angelou once said, " I am grateful to be a woman, I must have done something great in another life." It is indeed a great time to be a woman. We have made monumental steps in society, but we know there is still work to do.
Women represent 54.3% of the US workforce as of December 2021, but only held 35% of senior leadership positions. Less than 1% of Fortune 500 CEOs are women of color.
Today, we stand with and celebrate Precious L. Williams.
Who or what has influenced you as a leader?
My grandmother, Precious D. Williams has influenced me as a leader since I was a teenager. She loved me deeply, encouraged me to speak on stages around the world and had a vision for my life outside of the inner city of St. Louis, MO. I trusted her and she led me to becoming the woman and leader I am today. She was a mother of 7 children and me as her bonus "QueenBee." She loved me to life!
What one (1) book would you recommend to a young woman beginning her leadership journey? Why?
Heels to Deals by Heidi Solomon-Orlick. This book is a true game-changer for young women. Each of the 33 co-authors, including me, sharing our story of being successful in sales. How we built our empires by writing our own paychecks. Sales and the ability to sell yourself in any situation is critical to women, all women, even young women, today!
In your opinion, what are three (3) barriers or challenges women in leadership are still facing today?
1. Feeling like you have to fit into the mold society expects of you
2. Ignoring GOD's purpose for your life and expecting approval from others.
3. Refusing to move on from situations, relationships and jobs that no longer serve us.
What is your "why"?
My why and the reason I am here is to help women, especially of a certain age, give birth to their next beautiful NOW! That means going after their dreams despite fear, worry and doubt, taking their "perceived" flaws and making them your secret weapon, and allowing yourself to reinvent your life at any age and do what you want to do! You now have the permission to position yourself as you see fit!
Please share your WORDS OF GRATITUDE for women who have come before you.
To the Queens that came before me, I thank you for paving the way!
Please share your WORDS OF WISDOM for those young women who will come behind you.
To the Princesses who come after me, we walked so you can run and FLY!!! GO get your blessings NOW! Fortune favors the BOLD.
