"When you understand your assignment, your fight is different because you understand the source of your strength." - Kurline J Altes

Meet Kurline J Altes...

Who or what has influenced you as a leader?

It's hard to point out any one person. I give credit to quite a few leaders but my truest and biggest influence has been my faith. The core of who I am is rooted and grounded in God's love. I am a strong believer in the power of love, and my ultimate goal is to bring about generational change through my work. Embracing God's unconditional love for me has allowed me to be kinder and more compassionate with myself. My goal is to allow that love to transcend to others and places that are seen as unlovable.

What book would you recommend to a young woman beginning her leadership journey??

I would recommend Stop Punishing Yourself-allow your purpose to be greater than your past by Kurline J Altes.?

This book is written by someone who has experienced most if not all of the challenges that they may potentially face in leadership or the workplace. That includes bullying and harassment, seclusion, isolation, exclusion, loneliness, unequal pay and many more.?

This book is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to improve their leadership skills and achieve their goals. They will receive the guidance, inspiration, and practical advice needed to take their leadership abilities to the next level and drive their own business, team, or organization toward success.

In your opinion, what are three barriers or challenges women in leadership are still facing today?

1. Imposter Syndrome- due to a lack of genuine support, most women receive more negative feedback than positive or have been misguided. Many have dimmed their lights, lost their voices and are still being told that they are either too loud and aggressive when asserting themselves. Women in leadership deserve to bring their #wholeSelf to the workplace and move from success to thriving.?

2. Balancing work/careers and family responsibilities-? more particularly, single parents such as myself are either viewed as inconsistent, unfocused or confused. The reality of juggling roles while pursuing purpose, ensuring that everyone is doing well and running a business can sometimes lead to burnout. Balance is not supposed to be something that we read about, it is a necessity for success.?

3.Hostile work environments-? women leaders who are not plugged into their role the proper way will experience both overt and covert bullying. I have personally experienced such and wondered why those above me turned a blind eye. Women deserve the respect of receiving a smooth transition into their roles as it not only reduces or eliminates mental stress and anxiety but fosters a healthy team to work alongside.?

What is your "why"?

To leave a legacy for my son, his generation and those to come. I strongly believe that there was already a blueprint in place for my life way before I was born. For that reason, it is my duty to seek it out, pursue it and live it out loud.

Please share your WORDS OF GRATITUDE for women who have come before you.

If there was ever a time that we needed your wisdom, it is now. Thank you for riding out the storms of life, showing up for yourselves and others, paving the way and leaving us proof that "it" can be done.?

Please share your WORDS OF WISDOM for those young women who will come behind you.

It has never been easy for me. Some paths were not always paved but I held on to the unchanging hand of God. There is something much greater on the inside of you that is awaiting a "yes" from you. Give yourself permission to succeed through your own definition of what success is to you. There is no one size fits all approach to success. Our paths are different, our journeys are different and so is our responses to life's challenges.“It is perfectly okay not to have it all together; coach yourself all the way through.” Kurline J Altes

The world needs you! The world needs your gifts. Go conquer and know that the universe is on your side.?
