The Women Who Inspire Me: My Tribute on International Women's Day 2025

They say charity begins at home, and for me, so does inspiration.

Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible women who have shaped my journey: my mother, my wife, and my two daughters.

Each has taught me powerful lessons about strength, resilience, love, and leadership.

My Mother – The First Woman Leader I Ever Knew

As a child, I watched my mother juggle everything: work, home, family, and community.

I remember waking up for school before dawn, only to find that she was already up, cooking, organizing, and ensuring everyone was taken care of before she even thought of herself.

She never complained.

She just did what needed to be done.

One day, I asked her, "Mummy, don't you get tired?"

She smiled and said, "Tired? Maybe. But when you have people depending on you, you find the strength you never knew you had."

That moment stuck with me.

She taught me that authentic leadership is about sacrifice, showing up even when no one is watching, and putting others before yourself without seeking recognition.

Her resilience became my blueprint.

Her belief in me gave me confidence, and her discipline shaped the man I am today.

My Wife – The Heart That Holds Everything Together

If my mother built the foundation, my wife is the glue that holds everything together.

She is graceful under pressure, balancing her many roles as wife, mother, professional, and my greatest supporter.

I have watched her pour into our family, even when she had little left to give.

I remember one challenging time when I was overwhelmed with responsibilities, work, leadership, business and everything seemed to happen simultaneously.

She noticed.

Without saying a word, she stepped in, took care of everything I had overlooked, and told me,

"Rest. I've got this."

That's the kind of woman she is, one who carries the weight of others without asking for applause.

She has shown me that strength is about power, patience, endurance, and the ability to love unconditionally.

Behind every great leader is someone who believes in them, supports them, and lifts them in moments of doubt.

Adaobi Rose Okoh I am grateful every day that I have you by my side!

My Daughters – The Future in Motion

If my mother taught me resilience and my wife taught me partnership, my daughters teach me about the future.

I see a new world through their eyes, where girls don't wait for opportunities; they create them.

Amarachi – The Fearless Dreamer

She is bold, inquisitive, and utterly unafraid of challenges.

I remember a time when she came home from school upset.

"Why are you sad?" I asked.

"They said I couldn't do something because I'm a girl," she replied.

She is just a child, but she already knows that the world sometimes sets limits on women.

I told her, "You can do anything. Never let someone else define your potential."

The next day, she returned, proved them wrong, and never looked back.

She reminds me that gender should never be a barrier to ambition.

She is fearless, driven, and constantly challenging the world's expectations.

She teaches me that we must create opportunities for women and raise daughters who believe in themselves without question.

Chimamanda – The Quiet Strength

If her sister is the bold one, she is the calm force.

She observes before she speaks and thinks before she acts, but when she decides on something, she follows through with quiet determination.

One evening, she was working on a complex puzzle.

She kept trying, failing, and starting over again.

I told her, "Maybe take a break?"

She shook her head and said, "No, I'll get it."

And she did.

She reminds me that persistence is just as powerful as loud ambition.

She teaches me that women don't have to shout to be heard and that strength isn't always loud.

It's consistent, unwavering, and steady.

My daughters challenge me daily to be a better father, mentor, and a more vigorous advocate for a world where women can thrive without limits.

They are why I believe in a future where women don't just ask for a seat at the table.

They build the table themselves.

Today, I celebrate these women and all the incredible women shaping our world.

To every mother, wife, daughter, sister, colleague, and leader, your impact is immeasurable.

Let's continue to uplift one another, break barriers, and create spaces where every woman can thrive.

Who are the women who inspire you?

Charity begins from home. How true is this statement?
