What advice would you give to young women starting their careers, particularly in terms of finding their voice, setting boundaries, and advocating for themselves?

Research and understand the full scope of the occupation or profession and the career that you have chosen and explore the future opportunities that the career offers that may interest you. Knowledge imparts confidence, which affects demeanour, and this is a huge advantage in achieving that first rung on the ladder of progression to higher levels of responsibility, authority, and income. Remain grounded, be real and avoid arrogance at all costs.

Investing in additional and ongoing learning will contribute to enhancing skills, which will also gain respect in your occupation. Don’t overlook the advantage of related courses and interests, like programs offered by The Voice clinic and membership of Toastmaster type organisations. Effective Communication Training is a key component in advancement and coaching in public speaking and confidence building can do wonders. We don’t always see ourselves as others perceive us and acquiring these tools give enormous insight and can be huge fun.?I wish that I had been given this advice at the start of my career.

How do you personally promote self-confidence and resilience in the face of setbacks or obstacles?

I think nurture played a big part in building natural confidence, and a competitive nature certainly helps with the resilience. It is just not an option to give up before I success in anything that I put my mind to. Attitude is a super-power. You cannot always control what happens but you can control your response.

In your opinion, what are some essential skills or qualities that young people should cultivate to succeed in the workplace? ?

Skills- Becoming proficient in the use of all possible technology tools Utilising technology to succeed - Networking and building a brand.

Qualities- Listen more than you speak. Get your hands dirty and always be willing to volunteer or participate. Be interested and be interesting. Be observant and be prepared to share skills and learning.

How do you approach decision-making and problem-solving, and what strategies have helped you succeed in making tough choices?

Just do the right thing and you cannot go wrong.
