?? Paola Bonomo - Non-Executive Director, Advisor, Investor

What is your role?

I bring to the boardroom table my operational experience in digital-first #SiliconValley companies and in digital transformation journeys at traditional companies. As a #boardmember, I have a track record of board decision making in difficult decisions, including transformational extraordinary transactions; I can steer a board through major M&A activity and periods of intense upheaval, such as in management successions. I have served in the roles of Nomination and Remuneration Committee Chair, Audit Committee Chair, and Lead Independent Director in public and private companies. My experience as an #angelinvestor and as an Investment Committee member at a venture capital (#VC) fund enables me to support large corporates’ presence in the venture capital and technology ecosystem and bridge the gap between them and the most promising startups and scale-ups.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

I have participated as a Board member in the process leading to the “delayering” (i.e., separation of the services business from the fixed-line network infrastructure) of Italy’s largest telecommunication company, likely to result at closing this summer in the largest private equity transaction in the European telecommunications sector in several years. This year, the company has also been recognized by DiversityLab as the overall winner of the #Diversity Brand Awards for its progress in several dimensions of inclusion – a process that the Board and especially the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, which I have chaired, have steadfastly promoted. The next achievement I’m looking forward to is the first closing of the new fund managed by the VC team I have advised since 2020 and throughout the deployment of the first fund.

Time to walk the talk. #Leaders must make a commitment to hire, promote, fund different people from those they have supported in the past.

What is the history of the startup or your role?

Burnmark launched as a disruptor in the #fintech research industry in 2016. We provide research and advisory services to banks, challengers, fintechs, consultants and governments.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

Pivot! We will take on a new direction (and new segments) in 2024.

What is the history of the startup or your role?

As a social entrepreneur, I've founded six different businesses and worked with many nonprofit organisations. I discovered that purpose-driven organisations often struggle to get good value from their communications efforts. It's costly and risky for NGOs and nonprofits to make investments in digital marketing and communications.?

I created AMS Consultancy to help nonprofits and social enterprises make better informed decisions about their comms. We work with our partners on day-to-day comms, and in parallel we are building innovative proprietary technology tools, including an AI-driven quality control engine and a digital media content app, to help de-risk communications planning. We want to make sure nonprofits can successfully raise the attention and funds they need to achieve their mission and build a #sustainable, ethical and inclusive future.

?? Michelle Evans - Global Lead of Retail and Digital Consumer Insights, Euromonitor International

What is the history of the startup or your role?

I lead insights on the retail industry, more broadly, and the impact of #digitalization on consumer markets for the global market research firm Euromonitor International. We aim to provide our clients with actionable insights into where and how consumers shop, as well as the evolving path to purchase in the digital era. Every day, I distill complicated topics related to the fast-changing retail industry, strategizing about its future in client conversations, keynote presentations, and industry-shaping reports.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

One of my top goals in 2024 is to produce impactful content related to the future of retail. The way the industry operates and how consumers shop is quickly evolving, with digitalization at the core of many of these shifts. I'm excited to share new work, which will feature a proprietary framework and #quantification model to help leaders make sense of the pace and breadth of change so they can more effectively strategize in 2024 and beyond.

What is 1 thing in 2024 leaders must do differently to inspire inclusion? #IWD

While women's rights and #gender inequality have come a long way, it is important to recognize what still needs to be done. There are both conscious and unconscious biases that hold women back in their careers and personal lives. We must continue to shine a light on these issues in order to level the playing field.


?? Ernestina Appiah - Founder, Ghana Code Club

What is the history of the startup or your role?

#Ghana Code Club is an after-school initiative that engages basic school children with computer science activities from schools, homes, libraries and community centers. Children are guided by a team of volunteers using our resources to program robots, #3D model and print, create animations, #games, build websites, mobile apps, and many more. As the founder, my role is to shape the vision and mission of the organization. I am responsible for setting strategic goals, fostering innovation, and creating a positive work culture. Additionally, I engage in #fundraising, networking, and partnerships to support the growth of the Ghana Code Club. I guide the team towards achieving our objectives and making a meaningful impact in the field of #STEM.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

During the past couple of years, Ghana Code Club has achieved a number of milestones that have positioned our institution as a hub for technological advancement and education in Ghana. In 2024, we are looking to secure funding through grants and sponsorships that can enable Ghana Code Club to scale its activities, particularly focusing on initiatives aimed at fostering innovation in Ghana and extending our influence beyond borders. In 2024, we are implementing targeted educational programs, #hackathons, and community outreach projects that contribute to skill development and technology awareness for everyone in Ghana.

What is the history of the startup or your role?

From its beginnings as a novelty app, Shutta has developed into a fast-growing end-to-end digital transformation company with global reach. Our services cover the full spectrum: from #UX/UI design, bespoke software development and off-the-shelf implementations to #data #analytics and business intelligence, including AI and machine learning. In addition, we develop human-centric & data driven marketing strategies. We have successfully adopted a Hypothesis Driven Design methodology that ensures agility and continuous improvement in all our services, from tech to marketing.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

Launch our in-house Data Analytics solution as a self-service SAAS solution for Small and midsize enterprises (SMEs).

Break traditional hierarchy structures and replace these with cross-disciplinary and collaborative structures.


?? Sandra Yeow - Managing Director and Founder, Nucleo Consulting

What is the history of the startup or your role?

Nucleo started at a time where remote working is not common and onsite servicing is a must. I insisted on a work from home (WFH) culture since day one. We then underwent digital transformation ourselves to streamline and be more efficient in serving our clients and have been adding relevant services to serve our clients’ needs. We also expanded clients and even have a few staff overseas due to the systemisation. I understand that tech is a huge cost to #SMEs hence I have been listing our solutions to get government funding support. Besides that, we have also been giving back to the society by collecting back old computers, refurbishing them, partnering up with a special school to conduct a PC course to enable the special kids a skill and giving them the computers after the course ends.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

We are undergoing #AI transformation and we hope to be an AI driven business by 2024 and so we can be more focused on helping our clients and minimising all the manual processes.

To hire more women into our organisations by their demonstrated skills and not academic.
