?? Laina Raveendran Greene - Founder and CEO @ Angels of Impact

What is the history of the startup or your role?

Drawing from my own lived experience facing challenges in raising funding as the founder of a successful e-learning company in Singapore, I have developed a passion for reducing the gender funding gap, especially for those with a social mission. Together with a group of successful entrepreneurs, we founded Angels of Impact and have since supported 35 social enterprises, impacting 67,000 lives in the ASEAN region. Our impact metric is based on UNSDG #1 No Poverty, #5 Gender Equity, and #12 Responsible Production and Consumption. We offer customized technical assistance to get social enterprises investment-ready, make connections for them to grow into new markets, and/or offer low-cost capital where other funding sources are not available to them. Do join our movement to reduce the gender funding gap faced by women-led social entrepreneurs in this region.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

Find the right regional lending platform partners as well as local accelerators that have graduated social enterprises that they or other impact funds cannot fund, so as to join forces to help us scale our impact. We are also looking for conscious investors to join us, as we hope to impact more lives in the region.

What is 1 thing in 2024 leaders must do differently to inspire inclusion? #IWD

There has to be intentionality around inclusion. Educate yourselves on the benefits of inclusion and how companies succeed with gender inclusion. It is good business and gender inclusion should not just be seen as a nice to have but a must have for business success.

?? ?Lisa Kuhn Phillips - Regional Sales Management (27 states – community banks and credit unions)

What is the history of your role and the startup?

I listen, consult and problem solve for financial institutions. Right now, I sell financial technology solutions that enable people to work more effectively (document management, workflow processes, a core system) and customers to bank more efficiently (online account opening, mobile apps, etc). I’m able to use my former experiences in bank and credit union senior executive roles (25 years) and my decade in startups to share the why and strategically consult on the what’s next for buyers and current clients. I love helping a team advance their business objectives, and super rewarding when it is with those who have growth mindsets.

CSPI, Inc. is what I call a ‘crossfit’ (rather than startup) company, which has been serving clients (banks and credit unions) for 35 years with continually evolving solutions and service, while recently modernizing a core (acquired in 2020). We’ve become a ‘one stop and serve’ digital shop for financial institutions who want to move ahead with a trusted, non-venture capital backed company. We’re truly a diverse team who develops, implements, sells and supports our core and core agnostic solutions for mid-to-large community banks and small to mid-sized credit unions.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

Success and sustainability for the companies I work with (credit unions, community banks, fintech partners). And as equally important to me: Reskilling and upskilling in analytics, business intelligence models and action/creation.

I’ve said it before in a previous article - I have this insatiable need to learn and lead progress – through a vision (my business model), a better solution and communication with people who believe in the same. Math came easy for me, and empathy too, yet it is a powerful combination in the business world today…? Math, data, patterns, and human behaviors -- they all tell a story to me. ?Generative AI - from its positive impact and use, as well as its inherent risks/pitfalls with inaccurate, fake and/or biased information and content – has more than piqued my curiosity and continued interest. ?I’ll be taking classes, continue online learning, testing, and using as I work and live.? We need more women involved in this field as we shape the future and the stories yet to be told.

What is 1 thing in 2024 leaders must do differently to inspire inclusion? #IWD

Ensure your board and management team reflects inclusivity.

As leaders, ask yourself: What has been the percentage improvement over the last 7-10 years to reflect gender inclusion statistics at senior levels in my company? Did we, as a team, methodically achieve representation? In the US, as of 12/31/2023, it was 167,894,736 males (49.4%) and 172,197,963 females (50.6%). As leaders, have we led by example?

?? So-Young Kang - Founder and CEO of Gnowbe

What is the history of the startup?

Gnowbe pioneered the creation of a super easy to use, accessible authoring tool that anyone can use to design powerful, high impact shared learning experiences. Essentially, we created software to help anyone train better. We did this by integrating the art and science of teaching into a mobile-first, microlearning environment. We empower creators to easily design transformational experiences using AI, behavior design, gamification and the art of experiential learning. We do this to scale and measure impact to transform and improve lives.

What do you want to achieve in 2024?

Scaled impact to empower more creators to help others be at their best.

What is 1 thing in 2024 leaders must do differently to inspire inclusion? #IWD

Be curious, observe and advocate for others. Notice when others are excluded, spoken over or dismissed. Notice it. Then speak up and advocate for that person.

Growth in the corporate section.

What is 1 thing in 2024 leaders must do differently to inspire inclusion? #IWD

Hire on merit and company culture fit, irrespective of age, race or gender. Inclusivity means no discrimination. It can only be truly inclusive, if the variables upon which to include excludes variables that can be discriminated against.
