Women in Tech

Anuradha Mudem

Being the fifth daughter in the lower middle-class family of seven, pursuing higher education was just a dream for me. However, by the time I reached 10th grade, attitudes towards education began shifting. With the encouragement of my sisters, I defied norms of early marriage and pursued higher studies. Eventually, I earned a Master's in Technology from the top college in my state.

New journey gave me new troubles. Being from a village, I found it quite difficult to adjust to a new environment with its own set of issues. In addition to this, at one time the communication gap turned into a barrier that consumed my confidence and cost me the chance to gain entry into a prestigious public sector organization. However, I have always found inspiration from my surroundings. With that motivation, I have joined an MNC. But I was being complacent about the potential later on and this prevented me from stepping beyond of my comfort zone. It took a lot of time for me to go beyond that zone. I believe in the quote, “Better late than never.”

It has been a blessing for me to be surrounded by lovely beings, whether they are my sisters, close friends, or coworkers, without whom I would not be here. My successful work established an example for my family's future generations, and now I can proudly say that they too have no impediments in their way of realising their aspirations.

As I wrap up this, the only advice I have for all of the women out there is to "Step outside of your comfort zone and consider yourself a possibility in every kind of circumstance rather than living in a comfortable cocoon".

If you cannot change your surroundings, get ready to change yourself – Denis Waitley
