Women in Science Week - Part 2
PEAK: Has your scientific background influenced your perspective on everyday life or personal hobbies??
Michelle: Interesting question and not one I’ve thought about, but I suppose I’m quite logical and curious by nature. I also place a lot of value on integrity in my personal and work life, which I’m sure is influenced by my background in life sciences.?
PEAK: If you had the option to give advice to a younger version of yourself, what would that be??
Michelle: Don’t be afraid to fail, failure is often a catalyst for growth and learning!?
PEAK: Did you have a role model that influenced your decision to work in science? if so, who???
Michelle: Before I went to University I worked for a drug discovery start-up, I had two female colleagues who were fantastic role models, with an abundance of knowledge, passion, and professionalism. Their influence and example inspired me to follow a career in life sciences.??
PEAK: Why is it important to celebrate girls and women in science?
Michelle: I would say it’s important because it highlights the accessibility of careers in science and demonstrates the diversity of career paths and roles that are available.?
