WOMEN ON THE RISE

As we embark on Women’s History Month, after celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, I am beaming with pride at our progress. In fact, at a recent?Governor’s Commission for Women?Legislative Luncheon, we?celebrated a groundbreaking 54 women who are now serving in the Texas Legislature. I was honored to stand before this group and give the motivational leadership keynote honoring the largest number of women elected in Texas legislative history.?

?And?we’ve just gotten started.

Much work is needed?to elevate and promote women in all aspects of the workplace and?public service, which is one of my major initiatives through?Women Who Mean Business?at the McCombs School of Business.?We are accepting applications now for the Fall of 2023 class and?I hope you'll?visit the website?to explore this program for yourself or nominate a rising female leader.?

I have also noticed?more?initiatives?in corporate America to provide women with the training and tools to rise in their organizations. When I speak to these groups, I am so impressed with the women who participate?and how they help one another.?

However, I would be remiss if I didn’t salute the countless great men who have helped me throughout my career and?life. As I make speeches and travel around the country, I continue to be?impressed by the number of men who are sponsoring and mentoring women. Their hearts and pocketbooks are in the right place!

Statistics prove that businesses with strong female leadership thrive and grow compared to those that don’t.?Take time to encourage a young woman this week. Your vote of confidence may be just what she needs to take the next big step in life.
