Women: The Minority Majority

This week, 6th February 2018, marked the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918 receiving Royal Assent; this allowed some women over 30 being given the right to vote in UK Parliamentary elections. 

Of course we all know that the progress of gender equality remains slow, with women still lacking fair opportunities, basic rights and equal pay. The recent events and coverage in the worlds of entertainment, business, sport and politics serve as a bitter reminder. However, it is the continual under-representation of women, despite their higher levels of qualifications and meritorious achievements, in the upper echelons of most professions, industries and organisations that allows women to be called ‘the minority majority’.
