Women are the Light of the World

We are living in a world where to find equality, we need to fight for it. Women in many countries fight for equality yet cannot find justice. For instance, Brazil is one of the countries where women can become president; yet it also has one of the highest rates of femicide. Women are treated unequally in many areas. If we look at the cases, we can see women are being murdered, a woman is being attacked and?not treated equally to men in the workplace, and women are not treated fairly in many countries.??

According to the article “A Snapshot of The Status of Women in Brazil,” women are increasingly entering the workplace but are underrepresented in positions of power. Women of colour and women facing poverty are not treated equally in the workplace. Women are not getting paid enough, and according to statistics, there is a high chance that if women and men compete for the same position in?a workplace, men will be chosen for the position. Moreover, it is quite common for men to have a higher chance of?promotion in the workplace.??

Women face discrimination everywhere in the world, but Brazilian women have made important gains against violence. Although violence against women is extremely high, domestic abuse is not accepted in a private manner, but it is a crime. According to the article “A Snapshot of the Status of Women in Brazil”, Brazil passed 2006 the landmark “Maria de Penha”, which is a law against domestic violence. It is a law that recognizes femicide as a crime, a distinct process in protecting women against violence.??

Countless research papers have been discussing how many problems women face and women are underestimated even though they contribute a lot to society.?Today, on International Women’s Day, we see both the amazing achievements of women in the world and formidable challenges.?The CES (Centre of English Studies) Toronto family is optimistic and sees beyond the challenges; The future is brighter, and today's?generation will make a difference. All we need to do is to fight against discrimination and inequality. Our generation is the voice of tomorrow. We should remember that women are enough and capable of any fantastic opportunity and countless successes.?And let us always remember that when women are allowed to develop their full potential, this world that we are living in will be brighter than ever.?
