1. CLEAR COMMUNICATION

During the Soulcast Media | LIVE, both Dr. Jian and An agreed, knowing what you want and having a clear understanding of the direction you want to go, will help you in your career. The key is being very clear in your communication with yourself and others.

Consider the following:

  • Strategic Decisions?– When you are clear about what direction you want to take, you will be able to make strategic decisions to get there. This means clearly communicating to yourself and others what you want.
  • Straightforward Questions?– During the Soulcast Media | LIVE, the audience asked what to do if your idea was shot down during a meeting. If this happens, you need to use clear communication when talking about your idea and ask pointed questions as to why your idea wasn’t accepted.
  • Confidence?– Your communication needs to be clear and confident. This means using confident body language and removing any?mental barriers .

In our e-course,?The Art Of Communication , you will learn how to speak clearly and confidently.

Being able to speak clearly, confidently, and concisely, are is critical to career success.

Consider the following:

  • Finding A Mentor?– Finding a mentor is one of the biggest things you can do to advance your career. However, it is important for you not to have any preconceived notions of what your mentor?has?to be.
  • Your Circle?– Surrounding yourself with a circle of people who support you and give you opportunities is critical for career success.
  • Advocate?– Having a mentor and a group of people who support you and advocate for you is critical, but you will also need to advocate for yourself. This means making sure you are speaking up when you need to and volunteering for projects.

In our LinkedIn Learning e-course,?Speaking Up At Work , you will learn strategies to help you feel confident speaking up at work.

Surround yourself with inspiring people and advocates who want to see you succeed.

3. LEADERSHIP MENTALITY

If you want to rise to a leadership position, you must adopt a leadership mentality. As a leader, you need a different mindset than someone who is not looking for or in a leadership position. In fact, you will need to adapt quickly to every situation as they arise.

Consider the following:

  • Difficult Tasks?– When you adopt a leadership mentality, you know you can’t take the easy way out. Instead, you have to do all of the things that make you uncomfortable. During the Soulcast Media | LIVE, An said,?“If something makes you uncomfortable, don’t go around it, don’t go over it, go through it.”?
  • Diversify Yourself?– If you want to be a leader, you will have to wear many hats. Diversifying your skillset will help you transition into roles that can give you more opportunities.
  • Use Your Difference?– If you are a woman or minority in the workplace, using your difference as an advantage rather than a limitation is critical for career success.

??We recommend the e-course?“Leadership Mindset” ?to help you learn more about developing a leadership mindset.

Adopting a leadership mentality will help you look at your career decisions from a different perspective and give you an advantage as you move through your career.

Women leadership in the workplace is critical for any company’s success. Learning clear communication, finding a mentor, and adopting a leadership mentality are all ways you can help yourself get into a leadership position.
