Women in Leadership @ Splash
Last week we hosted a panel all about women in leadership, and the journey our studio and our industry are on as we build a more equitable future for all.?
In April, businesses around the UK published their Gender Pay Gap Report. We published ours – you can read our 2023 Gender Pay Gap Report here –? and felt it was a perfect moment to press pause, have a data-led conversation, and reflect on the experiences of women in our industry and our studio.?
What does our Gender Pay Gap show?
This is our sixth year reporting on our gender pay gap data. With six years of reports, we can now start to build a picture of the journey we are on, how far we have come, and the work we still need to do.?
Over the last 22 years, our team has grown from the three men who started Splash Damage, to nearly 400 people of various genders and identities. This year’s report was our biggest so far, including our highest number of women since we began reporting six years ago.?
The biggest challenge we face in closing our gender pay gap is driving diversity within our topmost senior roles; a challenge that our whole industry shares.?
Our Panel
We invited four women from Splash Damage and the wider industry to join our panel and discuss their journeys and experiences of building their careers in games. Between them, they have over 30 years of experience in our industry – each one with their area of specialist expertise.?
Our panel talked about their careers, their experience working within an industry with more men than women, and how they have seen our industry change over the last 20 years.??
We discussed role models and mentors' impact on supporting talented people to thrive. And how, no matter your gender, background or identity, everyone can show allyship – because often being an ally is simply about listening, empathising, and supporting one another.?
The event ended with a chance to network with folks from around the studio and enjoy a slice of pizza from a local, female-owned business The Tasty Moon.

Specifically, we are revamping our recruitment processes to attract more women, upskill our existing women through several learning and development solutions and build more gender equity into our succession planning and promotion processes.??
These conversations don't, and shouldn't, happen on only one day. We're committed to having these conversations throughout the year. Stay tuned to our channels to learn more about our D&I work.
