Women in leadership: A cultural perspective
?
More and more women these days are aspiring to become leaders; however the percentage still remains very low in most of the fields. One of the reasons cited is the prevailing culture that acts as a barrier.
The barrier may be in the form of a family culture, the community culture, the organizational culture, the regional culture or maybe the country’s culture.
Where there are closed cultures, women find it difficult to rise as leaders in spite of their capability & competencies.
What is your opinion?
- Do cultures really act as barriers?
- How do we overcome these barriers?
- How should women empower themselves to overcome these barriers?
- How do we create a culture of gender equality?
- How do we work towards equal opportunities?
