There are a few people who can say they have changed the Haitian culture. Let alone there are fewer people who can say they have changed Haitian education as a whole. There is only one changemaker who can say both.
This innovative educator who I had the pleasure of speaking with is Nedgine Paul Deroly. A genius founder who created a pathway to education for over 10,000 students in Haiti. A light in the darkness. A movement within herself. She has inspired countless leaders across the globe including myself. She is the co-founder & CEO of Anseye Pou Ayiti. (Teach for Haiti which is part of the Teach for All network founded by Wendy Kopp, Teach for America founder)
She is the official global ambassador for Haitian education. She is the "unofficial" Haitian minister of education because of the REAL work that she does without the actual title.
Her organization seeks to raise educational outcomes in rural Haiti by promoting teacher excellence and student success—rooted in Haitian culture, customs, and community. She has experience in the non-profit sector with an emphasis on promoting equal educational opportunities for all children.?
The work she does influences the entire nation of Haiti. Education will change the world and she has been behind the scenes making it happen. Her background in education is extensive. Being born in Haiti she understands the importance of education and what needs to be done. She has no savior mentality. She is humble and dedicated to her work. She is the most qualified individual to do her job because it has never been before. She is in uncharted territory. Her work goes on in a time of political instability. Anseye Pou Ayiti/Teach for Haiti stands tall even when the country is in turmoil. The global eye on Haiti is always negative, she is the POSITIVE force that needs to be seen!

Although her biography is all over the internet. It was my duty to honor her for all the work she does. This is what we need to see more of and hear more of. We have nothing but respect for Nedgine Paul Deroly . Please go and support the work she does.
