These last few weeks I’ve been talking about Career Change, and I hosted a webinar on the very subject.
That’s because I often get asked about how to change career; what career to change to; how to know if you can change; what to put in your CV; how to know if your skills and experience is relevant to the new career you want to move into.
For that reason I am starting a Brand-New Group Coaching Program to help you if you are ready to move into an exciting new career. The details are in the PS below.
When I was doing my research – the thing that surprised me the most was the number of women who decide to change career later in life.
There were lots of reasons, but the underlying theme was that they had reached a point where they were able to consider a change and felt they wanted the excitement of taking on a new challenge.
I read about lots of amazing women like:
??Hilary – she worked as a Fleet Street journalist for nearly 40 years, then decided to quit her job and retrain as a lawyer at the age of 60. She then spent ten years working as a media lawyer – she had combined the past with the new.
??Alicia - For 15 years worked as a sales exec in the fashion industry. In her 40s she started a new career as an executive recruiter, which she found exciting and fulfilling.
???Rosie - worked for a city lawyer for 26 years and retrained as a veterinary nurse when she was 50. She now works as a legal advisor for an animal charity – again, another person who has combined the past with the new.?
??Lucy - spent 30 years as a journalist before deciding to become a secondary school teacher and said it was one of the best moves she ever made
It was inspiring to read about these women.

One of the phrases that send a shiver down my spine is when I hear someone saying, “It’s too late for me, I’m too old to change”.
?
A change of career later in life might seem like a daunting prospect, but it can give you a whole new lease of life and instill a great sense of achievement – particularly if you’re no longer satisfied in your current role or you no longer have to think about supporting your family, your children, so you have more flexibility.
Later in life you have more experience, more confidence, and different priorities – it can be an amazing time to start a new career journey.
Are you ready to start yours?
