Women INpowered Programme

Women INpowered Programme

Looking back on Women's Month, we would like to reflect on a month filled with initiatives aimed at empowering?women. Our employees have told us that they would feel more empowered if they knew how to defend themselves, so we thought about the actions we could take to help our women feel physically empowered to defend themselves.

Self-defence systems can be complicated to master, especially if you don't have time to train every day. That is why we set up our Women INpowered Programme (WIP) at Vector Logistics, for our ladies participating in the Wholesale and Retail Learnership.

The WIP is a personal protection programme designed to train women to defend themselves, and it includes both physical and mental components of training. The women completed the programme with Mark "Mr. Self Defence" Grobelaar, the co-founder of the programme, who designed this programme to give women their power back. He began karate at the age of nine and holds a 6th Dan and Provincial and National colours. Mark has over 40 years of experience in the self-defense field. Our ladies were pleased with the programme because they learned about the importance of self-defense.?

We believe that companies operating in this environment have a duty of care to their employees and stakeholders to provide them with reasonable tools to perform their tasks safely, and challenge our peers to do the same!
