As we celebrate Susan B Anthony and the 100 year anniversary of women’s right to vote let’s take a look at where we have been and where we are:

- Over 500 years ago the English came to America
- 244 years ago our Country was founded
- 100 years ago women in both countries were finally allowed to vote
- 80 years ago women were deemed fit to serve on a jury.
- 60 years ago RBG and other women couldn’t get hired as an attorney or even a Law clerk because of gender (after graduating from Harvard and Columbia Law School)
- 50 years ago women weren’t allowed to be a reporter at Newsweek
- 30 years ago a judge had to tell workplaces that having pictures posted of naked women in the workplace wasn’t appropriate
- 10 years ago money and powerful friends led to dozens of children being raped while the rapist went uncharged for years feeling untouchable
- 5 years ago a man could rape his wife in TN as long as he didn’t use a knife or firearm
- 5 years ago women couldn’t be anchors on Fox News without great legs and sleeping with the boss
- 3 years ago women who wanted to be successful actresses were expected to sleep with their producer who in 2020 was finally convicted after 40 years of abuse.

- After 46 Presidents, we have yet to have a female President.
- Only 37 women (7%) are CEOs of Fortune 500 companies
- 1/5 c-suite execs are women, 1/24 are women of color
- Men say they are uncomfortable mentoring and networking with women 1:1
- Women continue to get an unfair share of office housework vs important projects
- Women are labeled as abrasive 59% of the time compared to men at 1%

- 1/4 girls are sexually abused under 18
- 1/5 women will be attacked and raped or attempted rape When hitting on a woman and the woman says no thank you and the man persists, the easiest way to get a man to leave her alone is to say she has a boyfriend because a man will respect a man he has never met more than the woman’s wishes that is standing right in front of him.
- In 2019, over 15,000 women were reported victims of trafficking in the U.S.
???????????? ????????- Courageous women and male allies have made tremendous progress AND we need more courageous women and male allies to help us complete the work of becoming equal.
I know some will be turned off by this post and think that women have it good or good enough now and should stop complaining. Or they see this as male bashing. This is not, I respect and admire most men. But if we don’t acknowledge there is a problem, we cannot fix it.
