Women Have Been #BreakingTheBias - What Stops You?

The Change Begins with You!

“If you are always trying to be normal, you’ll never know how amazing you can be."?–?Maya Angelou

Dear Friend,

Every year, March 8 is celebrated as International Women's Day. It is a day that recognizes, celebrates, and respects the strength of a woman! It is not that this does not happen on the other 364, but this day marks the intentions that many or all of us bring to the forefront.

I have never been a fan of these special days. A photo-op. A long post on social media. A cake at the office. Balloons all around. For me, if you are not authentic about your expression during the other 364 days then this one day will not make a drastic change in the direction of equality and women empowerment.

What is even more surprising to me is that even after witnessing the successes of women like Jane Austen (a prolific author born in 1775), Rosa Parks (the woman who sparked a revolution in America), Amelia Earhart (American Aviator who was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic), Indira Gandhi (first and only female prime minister of India in 1966), Katherine Graham (first female CEO of a Fortune 500 company), Indira Nooyi (first female CEO of Pepsi in 2006), and countless other women, we are still unable to create an environment that provides equality to women in all walks of life.

It is a journey and we shall get there. But I wanted to share three key ideas that might help us ignite the spark every day at our individual level and hopefully start a series of revolutions that expedite this much-needed shift.

  1. Be bold. Be Vivacious. Let no one ever tell you that you can't do it. Women have a superpower. They can think from the heart and the mind at the same time. You be you and you do you! If you can bring life into this world, everything else is a piece of cake. Believe in yourself each day and take small actions to achieve the big dreams.
  2. Build your circle. Women need to constantly support each other. Be a source of inspiration. Empower other women around you. Educate your spouse, siblings, sons and daughters on the challenges you face, support you need and then achieve everything that you need to.
  3. Don't limit yourself. Throw self-judgment out of the window. Don't question your limits. Don't get engulfed in the norms and the biases. You have an opportunity to rewrite history each day - not for someone else, but for yourself. Go do it! #BreatkTheBias

Now let's turn the lens towards you -?How can you turn these bold statements into actions? What small step can you take each day that will allow you to transform the world around you??I would love to know if you were able to derive value from this.?

Happy Women's Day to all the beautiful women out there! In case I can support you in any form on your journey, do reach out to me and I will be happy to help #BreakTheBias.

Warmly,?

Utkarsh

It's a refreshing shift this year as I see more people understanding the equality perspective and becoming allies to the agenda. Nice writeup.
