The term Women Empowerment has existed for a long time, but it has ended up popular only in the last few years. As a women has always been subjected to injustice and oppression in a patriarchal society, as well as they are treated as non-existent, empowerment of women is desperately required to help women to improve their lives having all the social amenities. Women empowerment is not just a identical rights, but it basically means the uprising women from a society continuously pulling them down.

What is Women Empowerment?

Women Empowerment is empowering women with all the rights and facilities in the society so that they can make their own choices about education, profession and life styles, can live independently without any barriers and restrictions imposed upon by the society. It also involves providing women with the opportunities and training to improve their position in the society.

Women should be granted the same rights and freedom as men enjoy in the society. They should be given equal opportunity to participate in social, economical, political affairs of the nation. Empowering women includes the freedom of expressing thoughts and opinions about social and national issues. Women should be encouraged and inspired to pursue with their dreams and achieve their goals in life.

Why Women Empowerment is important?

Women empowerment is the crying need in developing countries like Bangladesh, as a powerful women can greatly contribute to the overall development of the families as well as communities. If women are empowered with the opportunities to improve themselves, the can be turned as the assets of the nation. When women are allowed to have higher education and skill development training, they can reach their full potentiality and contribute their skills to the prosperity of the country. For increasing sustainable economic growth, empowerment of women is a must.

How to Empower Women?

Women can be empowered socially, economically, politically, psychologically. Their participation should be ensured in all the aspects of life. Education should be mandatory for girls. More employment opportunities is required to make women self reliant and independent. Proper security must be enforced in their workplace as well as in families. Their dignity should be upgraded in the society. Above all, awareness among the women is important for them to understand their rights. Because if they are conscious about their fundamental rights, only then women can be capable of fighting for it. Child marries, dowry system, superstitions prevailed in the society about women are the prime obstacles on empowering women. Hence these obstructions must be controlled or removed from the society. Both Govt. and individuals should work together to make it happen.

Women are worthy, powerful and determined. The can make the world a better place with their strength and belief. It is a matter of great hope that today's world is witnessing example of great female leaders who are ruling and changing the world with their knowledge and wisdom for the betterment.
