Women Empowering Women in Development - Meet Nouchelle

Nouchelle Y. Hastings has always believed in the power of one’s voice. She began making her own voice heard at an early age, advocating and talking to anyone within earshot, constantly inquisitive, and continually seeking knowledge and understanding. In high school, her passion for bettering humanity led her to H.O.S.A.(Health Occupations Students of America) and dual enrollment at Downstate Medical Center, State University of New York (SUNY).  There, she discovered that although this area of study was purposeful, it came with a price of feeling limited because it muffled the advocacy and outreach part of her heart. Nouchelle transferred to Berkeley College (New York City) and her voice took on a shape of its own. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Nouchelle took her passion for advocacy and bettering humanity to a higher and deeper level as she strategically developed her passion by connecting with other empowering change agents and community leaders.

Today, Nouchelle stands as a leading woman who has found success in a male-dominated architectural, construction, and engineering industry who has worked directly with some of our world's greatest talents and change agents such as the late, Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf (Boggy Creek Gang Camp), Joseph "Joe" Rohde (Walt Disney Imagineering Animal Kingdom), and was a part of the Construction Administration team for the Orange County Convention Center Phase IV which was also the team to work on large Health Facilities Designs and MOBs around the country. Nouchelle was also on the brainstorm team for the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. In the middle of life, Nouchelle suffered a life-altering automobile accident and was not believed to ever walk or return to the industry but with God's grace, she has triumphed over the odds and continues strong in the industry. She was a part of the construction team for Darden Restaurants and worked on over 400 restaurant remodels with strict timelines for turnovers. As a south Florida resident, Nouchelle now works for a forensic engineering firm that focuses on high-rise structures and handles the marketing and business development for the southeast market.

Following her passion, Nouchelle sits on several committees and boards and is a highly sought after speaker, organizer, and advocate. From holding high civic positions to serving the hungry and hurting Nouchelle is a pure and harmonious spirit. Nouchelle is also an advocate for the aging and those dealing with the onset of Alzheimer’s and dementia and is the Chair for a five-star rated Assisted Living, Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Nouchelle along with her husband owns and operates a growing business and has launched #omegacares a portal of ‘people lifting people’. In 2019, Nouchelle found a way to marry her passion and her professional path and became one of three founding women to launch Women Empowering Women in Development (#wew) a platform for women to engage, educate and support other women in the Development and Construction industries across all trades.
