Women Don't Need a "Day"?

Women Don't Need a "Day"

Yes, I'm that person. I don't like celebration months or days because I think it makes it convenient for *some people to ignore certain groups at other times of the year. I don't need a day to remind me to celebrate extraordinary people. I do that every week. It's one of the reasons I host the?LEAVE YOUR MARK?podcast. Every Sunday, I raise a glass to people who are not only crushing it in their careers but who have done the work, don't make it look easy, and pay forward their learnings.

So no, it's not about a day. It's about recognizing the greatness all around us every day. Here are a few amazing women I am honored to know. These women are not only leaving the door open for others but helping guide them through.

I was in the audience last week when a conference keynoter asked the men on this #InternationalWomensDay to tell their wives they are awesome. We don’t need our husbands to tell us we're awesome. We need men to hire and promote more women into leadership positions and pay them what they're worth. We need men to fight for women’s access to healthcare and the right to our own bodies. We need men to promote policy change, to support women-owned businesses, offer more mentorship opportunities and end gender-based harassment. On this International Women's Day, we want everybody to recognize women's and girls' social, economic, cultural, and political achievements and recognize the remaining work to be done on achieving gender equality. #IWD2023 #EmbraceEquity
