How do you think the role of women in IT recruitment has evolved over the years?

We started Digital Green two years ago with no specific female role models in our field. Many of our competitors are led by men. Luckily, both of us were not afraid to fail and decided to just go for it. We believe that the IT recruitment industry could benefit from more diversity and hope this becomes a reality in the coming years.

How do you see the future of women in IT in general, and what progress do you hope to see in the coming years?

Over the past two years, we have noticed that the majority of the people we work with are (still) male. We do see the number of women developers slowly increasing, but given that we have placed only three women developers since we started, we think it is safe to say that more women are needed in IT. We see IT-related education gaining popularity, including among women, and there are many initiatives specifically for women in IT, such as?SheCodes.io. So we are confident the number of women in IT will keep growing???

What role do you believe men can play in promoting more gender equality in IT?

Men, in our view, can be great allies in the fight for greater gender equality in IT. By listening, learning and actively supporting women, they can contribute to a more inclusive and diverse workplace. Men can use their influence to promote equal opportunities, challenge sexist attitudes and behaviours, and encourage female talent. Together, we can build a better future where gender does not limit our potential, but enhances it. It is important to remember that feminism seeks equality, not dominance.
