I speak to women all the time who desperately need a team but at the same time, they've had their fingers burned in the past. Maybe they have hired the wrong person, or they feel like they ended up having to be like the people manager in the business.
But it doesn’t have to be this way and if you are going to be the CEO of your consulting business, you are going to need a hire people to help you.
This can be tricky to start with if you have a slightly perfectionist personality and you're used to things being done to a very high standard in your business. It can be hard to let go, especially when you feel the output is directly related to your brand and how people perceive you as a person.
However, if you are spending your time managing your team, or worse still, micro-managing what they are doing, you are not going to find the freedom you seek. You need people who you can leave to get on with the job. You want a team, people who can use their initiative and don’t need you to tell them how to do the task in hand.
This week my guest on the Seven Figure Consultant podcast is Lauren Goldstein. She is referred to by her clients as “The Business Doctor” and is founder and CEO of the award-winning and globally recognised boutique business strategy consulting firm, Golden Key Partnership.
As a trusted advisor to CEOs of some of the fastest growing businesses for over 10 years, Lauren has helped owners go from business operators to business owners. In doing this, these owners find they have more time and freedom, are able to create more profitability, enjoy their businesses again, and have a bigger impact with their customers.
We discussed how to build a team for your consulting business and free yourself up to enjoy your business.
We talk about:
- Stumbling blocks when you’re building a team
- How to know when you can afford to hire
- What you need to look for when you are hiring somebody
- What to do if you haven’t hired the right people
- Looking after your team while freeing yourself up to be the CEO

Free Report - The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Consulting Business
I've created a free PDF report called The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business. It’s my most popular free resource and in it I outline the 6 areas of unscaled businesses that need to change in order to move past being ‘booked up and burned out’ and shifting into that higher gear that gets you cruising again.
It’s the framework that helps consultant women like you find their feet and get back to leading the business, rather than being buried in client work and back-end business operations.

3 年Very insightful. I felt like you had me on mind writing this - ‘booked up and burned out’ that's me! How do you hand off a client to a team member without the client feeling abandoned, or that their business is not worth my personal attention?
