One of my clients told me, ‘when it comes to my business, it’s a case of the shoemaker goes barefoot’. She was helping clients left, right and centre, but when it came to her own shoes - she was missing out.
I always say to clients, it stops when you make it stop. So often as women we can feel powerless. I felt that often when I was still in corporate. I felt like I wasn’t listened to. A man I once worked with told me I should dye my hair blonde because it would make me more fun and approachable. When I was saying to a male friend I had a problem with sexism at work and women being objectified - he told me I had to be more realistic because that’s just what men are like in the work place and it won’t ever change.
It stops when you make it stop. This has become a real mantra for me in my 30s. It applies to SO MANY situations we can find ourselves in.
This can be any situation where someone is trying to pull you into relating in an unhealthy or dysfunctional way. You can choose to play along by their rules and get sucked into the drama. Or you can choose to make it stop and make it clear that you’re not going to play that game.
This is so important because so often, your consulting business is a frustrating and unfulfilling place to be because without realising, you’ve set it up that way.
You can play the martyr, or you can say, ‘this stops when I make it stop’. And rethink everything about your current business model.
You don’t need to wait until you’ve built a monster to get help with your business. This is why I’ve set up my group programmes with training pathways to help women who are making their first 10K with my Profitable from Day One programme, and their first 100K as a consultant with my Catalyst programme - because I don’t just want to fix bigger businesses that are in a place of total chaos. I also want to be equipping women to get it right from day one so they don’t end up in some of these problematic scenarios.
If you have a large audience and you can just feel that you have so much potential to do more in your business, and make more money while you’re doing it, reach out to me and let’s talk about how I can help you get to a place where your business results match your growing audience.
I do this with my private coaching clients all the time and it’s like unlocking the potential they’ve always had but just not known how to bring into reality. 5K months become 20K months. We can often add several hundred thousand in additional sales and revenue to the business each year - without demanding more hours from them in return.
Head to my website and fill out the application form on my work with me page to book in for a discovery call.
Let me know in the comments, what change do you want to make in your business?
Free Report - The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Consulting Business
I've created a free PDF report called The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business. It’s my most popular free resource and in it I outline the 6 areas of unscaled businesses that need to change in order to move past being ‘booked up and burned out’ and shifting into that higher gear that gets you cruising again.
It’s the framework that helps consultant women like you find their feet and get back to leading the business, rather than being buried in client work and back-end business operations.

3 年The article's logic is certainly there. However, what can and does happen is that the women comments are continually ignored, dismissed and labelled complaining or inappropriate. Women have been called too sensitive, unaware unapproachable. She should speak up but the poor response is not always her fault, responsibility. We women should speak up, be ready for the pushback, bit not tale ownership of the hearer bad inopportune or wrong responses.
