The term ‘common man’ here includes both man and woman. Actually, it should have been ‘common woman’ because the word woman includes both. But when asked R K Lakshman, the legendary cartoonist from Times of India, replied that "a woman can never be common". Remember a character based dialog especially written mainly for SRK(Sharukh Khan). Who can stop him? That being said I am not implying that he said use only man in this dialogue. But used to for long long long time it was men's world. The format of the English took only man into account.
Even in the USA woman were like our women in the village, presently, they have adopted pants and Salwar Kameez. I am talking about 30s and 40s. The Oxford English dictate the construction of the language. The society never allowed then to do anything other than cooking n cleaning. But 80s they realized the discrimination against woman. So the word came out that when you say men, it is acknowledged that women are there? Then came time the construction kinda went this way he/ she. Then came 90's so a new word got added into our conversation such as politically correct so American general started saying man and woman team.
But due to feminist movement this point has become very pointed why not a common woman? Somewhere we need to keep the things the way they are respect each other. If sometimes woman word does not come during the writing or talk I say let it go. Same thing men word does not come it's okay. This jumble and problem will be solve when we don't compete as Male vs female. Let's behave with respect for each other as the basic job each sex perform cannot be performed by the other sex? Gender equality is here to stay forever.
There is nothing like man and women in generic quotes. The common man in this dialog is pointing to both men and women. Also, the dialog will not sounds good if you replace "common man" in the dialog with any other generic word. We men have the advantage of a completely different body type and functions over that of women. The Body, we have a body which can be maintained with the least of expenses. Short hairs, no nail paints, no waxing and many other things. We aren't "stared at" due to our flat biology. Its all underneath and not observable by others whereas running or jogging isn't an issue for us. Many girls face this problem of jogging in public as the movement of their curvaceous bodies are always looked at by one and all around.
Our decency is not judged on what we wear but some, wait.. actually many people do judge a girl on what they wear. I cant count how many of my friends asses I've kicked till date just because they judged a girl for her outfits. Its physiological functioning as well like we don't have periods. That might be a real pain for women. We don't have frequent mood swings. Don't know how girls manage to cope with that. We don't get pregnant and bear a child for 9 long months before give birth. Had it been men who gave birth then the population of this world would have never become 7 billion. Most men would have rather committed suicide.

We don't have a restriction of age at which we can decide to become a father but women have a certain age at which they have menopause. Don't know if that is a boon or bane. It is said that "If there’s God, he surely was betrayed by a woman". Being able to jog shirtless at 3 a.m., without being afraid of assault or worse. Being able to piss standing up. Better metabolic rates, meaning its comparatively easier to lose off excess weight. Not having to wear makeup on a daily basis- because the one single day I forget to wear make-up, people go all berserk and keep asking me “Are you sick? Do you need to go home?”
Spend way less amount of money on haircuts and look like a boss, whereas I get a trim and the bill sky-rockets up to Rs.900 with little to no noticeable change. Buy clothes that actually have a standard size (small/medium/large) across clothing stores. I, on the other hand need to analyze the lunar calendar, check for the alignment of the stars and predict the eruption of Mt.Vesuvius in order to figure out size measurements across clothing brands/stores. Few would disagree with the following, we have a better aim while peeing. We can channel our waste into the tiniest possible target without breaking a sweat.
We could pee while standing or squatting, whenever and wherever (strictly not recommended) or while doing whatever. We have a much bigger tank (read bladder) to hold ourselves in. Less frequent trips to the washroom. No PMS. No problem. One less thing to worry about every month. An average male is genetically faster, stronger, taller, smarter and has a much better cardiovascular strength. Shorter hair, smaller bills and less frequent trips to the salon. In short, we are low-maintenance. Men are capable of fathering children in old age. For women, the fairytale ends with the menopause.
Infrequent mood swings. Making us predictable, reliable, and poised especially in situations where a woman’s mood can’t be trusted. Go topless. We don’t have to worry about a stranger jailing our oranges. Predictably we don’t have one. No need to wax. Means less tax on our skin. Apparently, women do like hairy men. Unfortunately can’t say the same thing about men. No prizes for guessing who is better in bed!? Huh! No comments!! Cheers!
