Women are already behind on their AI skills and confidence

AI: Artificial intelligence is advertised as an asset for employees in their careers, but for many women, it's proving to be more of an obstacle instead.?Half of women say they don't have the skills — due to lack of experience and education — to keep up with new tech, according to a recent survey from job search platform Indeed . As a result, over 40% of women do not feel prepared to deal with the impact of new tech and AI on their career.?

"We expect that all jobs will see some level of disruption from generative AI," says Hannah Calhoon , head of AI innovation at Indeed. "This is a really new wave of technological innovation and there's still a lot of uncertainty about exactly how it's going to manifest for people — especially women."??

FREE TRAINING: As employees look to incorporate and embrace AI as part of their daily workflow, LinkedIn is offering hundreds of upskilling opportunities — and at no cost. Four in five people say they want to learn more about how to use AI in their profession, according to a recent survey from LinkedIn. As a result, the platform is making 250 AI courses free to members through its educational resource LinkedIn Learning to help organizations help their employees.

"We knew professionals were interested in AI skills, but it's surprising to see just how high the learner demand is," said Dan Brodnitz , head of content strategy at LinkedIn Learning Global in an email. "We've seen our courses on Generative AI skyrocket in popularity. In fact, we've seen a fivefold increase year-over-year in the number of learners engaging with AI content."???

WORKPLACE PRODUCTIVITY: In an effort to shed some light on the ways AI is streamlining common workplace processes and systems, Tech.co ranked the areas that organizations are seeing the most AI usage by leadership and employees. Data analysis came in first place, with 32% of companies reporting using AI for data analysis tasks, followed by writing tasks, with 26% of companies reporting they used AI for everything from writing emails to reports.

As a result, on top of job satisfaction, 56% of businesses reported a positive impact on productivity levels, according to the survey. Seventy-two percent of respondents who use AI extensively reported high organizational productivity, compared to 55% of respondents who use AI to a limited extent.
