Caution: Please read my article entitled The Woman so that you have a clear picture of who I’m speaking about and who I’m speaking too. This should help one understand the “why”. If you find yourself offended after reading the entire article then please find a way to effectively communicate so that we may all benefit. The verbiage shared below are factual accounts I’ve personally received and my mentor, my father, has raised me with “If you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one that got hit!”
The Woman Continues…
Now that we’ve established the fact that you are, indeed, The Woman. Let’s peel back a few layers and discuss exactly what may be involved while fighting the good fight. Please note that the intent of this continuation is not “I am woman, hear me roar…”. It also isn’t a political stunt to digress into the #metoo movement… which, by the way, my dear friend said it best “there is more power in knowing that our perpetrators know we could bring them down with the push of a button, and we choose not to”.
My intent is to address and bring awareness to the everyday occurrences, challenges, limitations, obstacles, hurdles, and expectations that women typically encounter with the hope that it will spur a quality Q & A. I intend to do this by highlighting each core value associated with “Her Secret Identity” identified in my article “The Woman”. As we address/explore each value, I ask you to take this journey with me and keep in mind that if these “values” are her secret identity – then they are just that, secret, where her strength comes from and they aren’t meant for you to bring to light…
Perpetually Grow
This would be the core value that all the other values stem from. It is her choice, and her sincere desire to perpetually grow. She is focused on her personal/professional growth – She takes ownership. Therefore; She is always looking inward and asking herself “How can I continue to grow”?
What we, as The Women, don’t need to hear would be the following: “You’re growing…” “You’re becoming a leader…” “I’m so proud of how far you’ve come…” “One day, you’ll be great…” “With the right training…” “If you read this book…” “If you join my team…” “If you listen to this podcast…”.
You see, it’s quite adorable really that you’ve taken the role to believe you’re the one inspiring The Woman to grow. At times, we may even allow you to think so because it’s part of our secret identity. However, I’m going to be blunt and cut to the chase, your desire to try to control, manipulate and/or undervalue… isn’t what attributes to The Woman’s Secret Identity.
The Woman knows she’s growing because she’s continuously looking inward and self-reflecting. She is a leader because she’s chosen to stand despite the falls, trips, scrapes, and bruises. She is focused on each step that is in front of her and has allowed the past to showcase her resiliency. She is great right now. She is enrolled in the required training, reading the books, joining teams, and listening to podcasts because she believes in perpetual growth.
Stand for Another
The Woman lives and is prepared for the battle so that she can stand for another. It’s where her strength grows – to have the courage to stand, when others may choose to look the other way. To stand when it may not be popular, to speak truth, to be bold so that another is uplifted is her mission. You see it’s not about her – her victories are found in fostering the strength of another.
So, when you tell her that “You need someone like me in your life” “You’re loud” “You’re busy” “You’re everywhere” “Slow down” or you ask her “What individual could handle you” … know that your verbiage is taken as seriously as a terrorist’s threat.
She is The Woman and she doesn’t “need” you, though she may choose to invite/include you to be a member of her tribe. She seeks partnership not ownership. She is “loud” due to the fact that she has something credible to say… again I’m speaking about The Woman and not just a woman. She is busy and everywhere because she is on mission to stand and doesn’t have a moment to lose. As for the individual that can handle her… she won’t be “handled”.
?Be Compassionate to All
The Woman is compassionate to all regardless of race, age, religion, sexual orientation, and yes…wait for it… even GENDER. She believes in and embodies kindness. Consequently, when you call her a tease or tell her you felt a “connection”, she will graciously choose to show you compassion, typically, with even more kindness.
Universally Inspire, Continually Motivate, Collegially Mentor
The Woman is an inspiration, and remains humble due to the fact that she is living the aforementioned values. She has made it her life mission to be a light to anyone who will permit her to be. She strives to continually motivate and collegially mentor because… she has allowed another to motivate and mentor her.
Again, this goes back to a choice – one chooses a mentor. The Woman is motivated and inspired by those that also live by the “secret identity” core values. If one is a mentor, they don’t have to yell it from the roof tops – the mentor will be sought out. Inspiration, motivation, and mentorship are natural abilities possessed when one is willing to perpetually grow, and stand for another all the while showing compassion to all.
Serve Others, Unconditionally Love
Service to others is what gives The Woman her life purpose, and the beautiful fact is that not one individual can take this ability from her. She will continually seek out ways to serve whether through work, volunteering, motherhood, sisterhood, etc… She takes joy and pride in service because she believes that her words become her actions, and as we all know, actions speak louder than words.
She doesn’t need to be slapped on the bottom, caressed on the shoulder, hugged longer than appropriate, nor treated as if she just made the winning goal. The Woman deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, admired, and esteemed. She has worked for her status as The Woman and should be applauded.
“If I could speak all languages…, but didn’t love others, I would only be noisy…” 1 Cor 13:1. The Woman isn’t noisy. She is loud and she is heard because her voice sings, cries, begs, and pleads for a world in dire need to be shown love.
She isn’t showing love to flaunt her sexuality, nor to treat her position as a way to get attention. The Woman is noticed, and she is beautiful for the reason that she takes great pride in her ability to unconditionally love. Confidence and strength are a powerful combination and she owns the key.
"Love covers a Multitude, Love speaks Life, Love is Patient, Love is Kind, Love doesn’t envy nor boast, Love isn’t arrogant nor rude…Love bears all things..."
