As I attend events and talk to partners it is becoming increasingly obvious that there are two camps approaching the office collaboration business. The Traditional AV approach and the IT direction. Now in 2023, both are right. Any customers who want to get the best from their spaces and in turn their employees must work with both to create their desired hybrid policies and successful business outcomes.
For the largest and most complex deployments with an array of microphones, speakers, multiple cameras, huge displays and even the latest furniture to give attendees the very best experience – AV Expertise is essential. But, as the Teams Rooms solutions scale into the medium and small rooms, different considerations are required including management, cloud billing and solutions (like AI).
Our job as a platform provider is to enable both conversations and this is where the discussion around the differences between Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows and Android comes up – the good news is?Matt Taylor ?published a?blog post ?last month to help cut through some of the noise and help partners and customers choose the right platform for any given meeting space. It's good a read and it's particularly topical given how many conversations come up on this subject.
Low cost #CertifiedforMicrosoftTeams solutions are becoming a real thing…
For an all-in-one solution, our Certified for Microsoft Teams manufacturers are producing some amazing quality solutions at a low cost. Look at Yealink's #MeetingBarA10 or the ?? Logitech #RallyBarHuddle. These are high quality solutions that are low cost and easy to deploy while still delivering a native Microsoft Teams Rooms experience.
For customers that may already have a USB camera / speaker / microphone setup in their meeting space (BYOD), there's now a great option to upgrade that room to a native Microsoft Teams Room on Windows. The MAXHUB #XCoreKit was announced as the first BYOD-upgrade solution starting at $799 USD.
The takeaway here is that customers now have a way to ensure all meeting spaces can be equipped to deliver more inclusive, easier to use & deploy hybrid meetings at a fraction of the cost.
Lastly, now we announced our Q1 earnings. In addition to strong financial results fuelled by the cloud and AI, I want to share the?#MicrosoftTeams ?momentum.
These are amazing numbers, I think you’ll agree! And they tell me we are doing something right!
What's New in Microsoft Teams
Well in fact - the New Microsoft Teams App!
The new Microsoft Teams app is now generally available for Windows and Mac including for education customers. We’re also beginning to roll out new Teams in public preview for our Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and government cloud customers (GCC, GCC-H, DoD).
The new Teams app was reimaged from the ground up to deliver improved performance and enhanced reliability, security, and IT management. The result is a faster, simpler, smarter, and more flexible app that is up to two times faster while using 50% less memory.
We have made notable progress since the launch of new Teams in public preview. New Teams now has full feature parity for almost all features including custom line-of-business apps, third-party apps, breakout rooms, 7x7 video, call queues, PSTN calling, contextual search in chats and channels, cross-post a channel conversation, and more.
New Teams allows us to release new capabilities faster. Moving forward, new features as well as enhancements to existing features will be available exclusively in new Teams.
Upgrading to new Teams is quick and seamless - no migration is required. If you use Classic Teams, you will be automatically upgraded to new Teams in the coming months. With just one click, you can upgrade to new Teams today.
