Wix Free Trial — How to Access

In this post I’m going to show you how to start a Wix free trial – which isn’t actually as straightforward as you might think...

Ok, so there are basically two ways to use Wix for free. You can either sign up to Wix’s free plan, or you can start a 14-day trial of the platform. I explain both options below.

Let’s take a look at the Wix free plan option first.

The Wix free plan

This lets you use Wix indefinitely, but this version of the platform is very basic. Here's why:

  • It’s ad-supported — and the adverts are extremely noticeable.
  • It gives you minimal file storage and bandwidth.
  • It doesn’t let you map a custom domain to your free Wix site.

However...

  • With the exception of ecommerce tools, it does let you try out the bulk of Wix’s features for free – and without any time limit to worry about.
  • It gives you a good way to start learning how to use Wix
  • I's perfectly fine for building simple sites for community or family events.

And, if you want to take your site to a more professional level, you can always upgrade to a paid plan at a future date.

Now, the Wix free plan definitely has its uses, but because it’s so restrictive in terms of what you can do with it, in many ways it doesn’t actually amount to a proper trial of the platform.

Getting a 14-day trial involves following three steps, which I’ll walk you through now.

How to start a 14 day trial of Wix

1. Sign up for the free Wix plan

The first step to getting a free Wix trial is to sign up for the free plan I just discussed —?you can access that here.

2. Upgrade (temporarily) to a paid plan

Next, you need to upgrade to a paid-for plan. Now don’t worry — as we’ll see in a moment, this doesn’t commit you to paying for Wix on an ongoing basis.

3. Try Wix out, and cancel within 14 days if the platform is not for you

Once you’ve upgraded to a paid-for plan, you have 14 days to try the platform out in full before you are charged on an ongoing basis for a subscription. During this period, you can use any of the premium features included with your plan. These can include ecommerce features, dropshipping tools and increased storage and bandwidth.

But if you decide that Wix isn’t for you, it’s simply a case of making sure that you cancel your plan before 14 days are up. Doing so means you’ll get a full refund.

You can find out how to cancel a Wix plan here.

And that’s it —?the two ways you can try Wix out for free.?
