Witnessing the Power of Teamwork and Collaboration with Nibal Hamdan Bark
The Earth Foundation
Building an ecosystem that accelerates positive change towards environmental sustainability. Home of The Earth Prize.
Every year, The Earth Prize recognizes an outstanding educator with the Educator of the Year award, as voted by participating students and selected by The Earth Foundation’s Advisor, Professor Mario Salomone. One of the nominees for this year’s award was Nibal Hamdan Bark, Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Development and Research, and the IBDP Coordinator at Greenfield College in Beirut, Lebanon.
In our interview with Nibal, she shared her inspiring journey:
“Since I was young, I've had a passion for teaching. However, my parents initially discouraged me from pursuing a teaching career. I enrolled at the American University of Beirut, and after working in the University’s hospital, I realized medicine wasn't my true calling. I completed my studies and obtained a teaching diploma.”
As a dedicated educator at Greenfield College, Nibal expresses her passion for her subject:

“I teach the best subject in the world: chemistry. I began my career as a chemistry teacher but expanded into various roles, including supervising and training teachers in the STEAM curriculum, and developing an environmental science curriculum for schools. There is still much work to be done in this field, and I remain committed to advancing these initiatives.”
Nibal first discovered The Earth Prize through the International College (IC) in Beirut, which had previously participated in the competition and received significant recognition for their submissions. Reflecting on her own journey with The Earth Prize, she shared with us:
“The Earth Prize competition has not only inspired and challenged me but has also helped me achieve my goals in unexpected ways. It has opened numerous doors beyond just being a competition. I realized that the website serves as a platform for contributing to environmental causes on a global scale.
Previously, my focus was mainly on local initiatives and collaborations with private organizations. However, The Earth Prize has provided an opportunity to make a difference worldwide. Reflecting on this, I regret not participating in previous years. It's a starting point where one can truly make an impact!”
Thank you for your passionate work, Nibal. Read the whole interview with her on our website.
