As the end of the financial year draws to a close my message is simple – now is the time to support the industry group that supports you.

 The Territory needs a strong property sector to rebuild its economy post-pandemic.

The Property Council provides a strong voice for the property industry - we collaborate with government to shape policy and are focussed on boosting investment and economic growth in the Territory. However, this cannot be done without the backing of our members.

 To focus on the task ahead, we have created a Northern Taskforce Committee that will drive policy discussion and shape government submissions for Northern Australia. This focussed group will work with government and industry to unlock real potential in the Top End. If you would like to be a part of this newly formed committee, please do not hesitate to contact me.

As Territorians head to the polls on August 22, it is now more important than ever to hear from the political parties about how they plan to create jobs, grow the population and cut crime. We have put the hard questions to each of the political parties vying for your vote, and will reveal their plans to you over the coming weeks. It is vital that our politicians understand how to support this vibrant sector.

Territorians are in desperate need of a stable government, one that is committed to developing the north while repairing the budget and boosting our economy. The Northern Territory is sick of taking out the wooden spoon – we need decisive leadership and real growth now.

Currently we are seeing policy backflips less than two months from an election. This is not good enough. This behaviour creates uncertainty and anxiety in the business sector and further reduces our investment opportunity. The Property Council will continue to hold politicians to account as we head towards this historic election – now is not the time to back away from a fight.
