Without Heavy Resume Customization, You're Doomed To A Slow 2024 Job Search

Part of the minimum price of entry to a faster job search is heavy resume customization.

Not tweaks, not just a couple of key words, nor the average 15 minutes of customization - It's not enough to make a difference.

Instead of heavy resume customization, most job seekers combine light (or no) resume customization, with sending a lot of resume volume. That's because most career resources teach job search strategies based on random applications, volume, and hoping you'll get lucky.

You'll find that strategy fails miserably in a highly competitive job market like 2024.

To make your 2024 job search faster, incorporate heavy resume customization that includes:

1. One Hour Of Customization Per Resume: Less than one hour doesn't give you a fighting chance to get past resume screening databases (ATSs) very often. Yes, you'll send fewer resumes, but heavy customization will get you more interviews when you do it correctly.
2. Understanding The Individual Hiring Manager's Current Needs: If you don't understand your audience's needs, how can you show that you can meet them? Most job seekers guess at individual hiring manager needs, assume that all hiring managers have the same needs for the jobs they apply to, or show employers a laundry list of what they can do and hope it matters to someone. This is what nearly every long-term unemployed job seeker does also, illustrating how ineffective this strategy usually is.
3. Going Beyond Publicly Available Information: Publicly available information gives you zero advantage over other candidates, and rarely describes a hiring manager's current needs.

Because hiring managers don't care how many resumes you send out, you'll learn that volume of applications doesn't matter. What volume does, is doom your efforts to make your search faster, as it takes time and effort away from a more effective investment of that time into heavy customization.
