THERE WITHIN LIES THE GOSPEL: TRUTH OFFERS BACKDROP FOR LAUNCH OF PIGMENT MAGAZINE IN BALTIMORE

Baltimore’s Galerie Myrtis was the setting for several events over Labor Day Weekend including the opening of There Within Lies the Gospel: Truth featuring many of the gallery’s preeminent artists.?

The exhibition opening also served as a launch event for Pigment Magazine IV which chronicles Myrtis Bedolla’s mounting of The Afro-Futurist Manifesto: Blackness Reimagined during the 2022 Venice Biennale.nbsp;nbsp;Gracing the cover of the magazine is work by Chatmon.

? This exhibition, which continues through October 21, celebrates the rich history of Black religious and spiritual traditions while also challenging the ways in which these practices continue to evolve and adapt in response to contemporary social and cultural realities.

Featured artists are Tawny Chatmon ,?Wesley Clark ,?Morel Doucet ,?Monica Ikegwu , M. Scott Johnson ,?Delita Martin , and??Felandus Thames .

Further Bedolla, hosted a reception for Pigment founder Patricia Andrews-Keenan to introduce Pigment International to the city’s premier artists, collectors, curators, and museum professionals.

?Additional programming slated for the exhibit includes a book signing for “Shifting Time: African American Artists 2020-2021” on Saturday, September 16th from 5 – 7 pm. The event is in collaboration with the Petrucci Family Foundation (PFF). Claudia Volpe, the Director of PFF, and essayists Klare Scarborough and Berrisford Boothe will join featured artists for the event.

Artist Eddie Santana “Edo” White was part of the grand opening of Foot Locker’s new Chatham Ridge store in Chicago in a big way this weekend.? He created the large, colorful and eye catching mural outside of the store.? Just part one of his involvement.? Soon the inside walls will be filled with his unique artwork as well.

The grand opening celebrations included ?a ribbon cutting ceremony, live music, photo booth, onsite customizations, refreshments, giveaways of meal tickets, t-shirts and more. Edo also participated in a community talkback event on Sunday alongside Sunday Vondale Singleton, founder Champs Mentoring Program.
