For many people, 2016 has been a tough year, loosing their jobs due to ongoing outsourcing. Many of these people have worked for their company, for many years, putting their entire heart and soul into their work. They are now unemployed and struggling through this holiday season.
This past week, Frontier Airlines learned an expensive lesson, that taking the cheaper way out by outsourcing ends up costing more in the long run. Many of their best experienced employees were let go, last year. The current staff, had problems understanding how to handle a weather related problem, by being unable to think outside of the box. This ended up in much customer frustration, and loosing future business by these customers.
Over the past couple of years, IBM has outsourced many jobs overseas, but has that really improved the company's financial results? A big thing it has done is that all of the people who lost their jobs, will not be able to contribute much to their local economies during this holiday season. So it has widespread impacts.
Is your company playing "Naughty" or "Nice"? More companies need to learn how to play Nice and put deserving people back to work. This is my wish for 2017!
