Wishing is waiting

We sometimes wish for a better life, that our current reality was different and hope that someday things might change. Problems can arise when our wishing becomes a habit of inaction that keeps us in a fantasy land. So don’t wait for past wishes to be granted – those who wish wait longer than those who decide and act.
It’s fun to wish upon a star, to throw a coin into a wishing well and to blow a wish on dandelion seeds. But how often do our wishes really come true? As we cut our birthday cake each year and make a wish, do those wishes get answered? Wishing reveals a desire or longing within us. But while wishing can be?fun, it can also be a place to hide from the work that needs to be done to live our best life. Some even hope for a genie to show up or wait for others to come to the rescue.
It doesn’t mean we don’t wish; it just means we decide and take action to make our wishes a reality – we take personal responsibility. We decide to get things done that matter – the things we really desire. When you think or say “I wish” or “I hope” or “I’m dreaming of the day,” just remind yourself that few wishes, hopes and dreams come true without action. Instead say “I have decided…” or?“I will…” Then there’s little risk that we will get stuck in fantasy land.
Go back to all those wishing wells and take ownership of your past wishes. They may be hard to reach, if not forgotten. Pull them out and dust them off. Choose those you desire and take action. Remember, those who wish wait longer than those who decide and act.
