Wishing for imperfection

I know I am an imperfect man.

I know I am an imperfect father.

I know I am an imperfect partner.

I know I am an imperfect teacher/trainer.

I know I am an imperfect mentor.

I know I am an imperfect coach.

I know I am an imperfect professional.

I know I am an imperfect human being.

I love to be imperfect. I thrive on it.

For those who believe in astrology, they say that, accordingly to my sign and chart, I should be a perfectionist. Well... not really.

All in all, none of these sentences mean I do not try to be the best I can in anything that I do or I am. Quite the opposite.

More than Ikigai, I have learned to approach life following the concepts of Wabi Sabi and Kintsugi. I explain what these are bellow.

The simplest explanation I can give you and that I believe not only individuals but also organizations, big and small, should use these as guidelines for a better path in life and business.

Embrace imperfection as a natural part of life and who you are. It's your imperfections that make you unique. Those you can change or improve, please do work on them following a Kaizen approach, but there are those that are beyond your control. You cannot control everything around you or about you (Shikata ga nai). Learn to let go.

Life is a continuous journey made up of learning opportunities. Most opportunities present themselves when you fail. You will never be perfect. You will never really reach perfection because our purpose is in the way and the path(s) chosen.

As for organizations, it's quite simple really. An organization is a group of people working towards a common goal and with a common purpose following a shared vision and mission (or it should be). These people are also imperfect human beings, regardless of where they stand within the organization. Everything I have told you until now applies.

In conclusion: Wish for being imperfect, because if you think you are not, not only you are delusional, and therefore not know your real purpose, and you will never learn and grow from it. You will become stagnant and eventually dwindle.
