Wishart – A Tightly Held Gem

Wishart – A Tightly Held Gem

When we say ‘tightly held’ in real estate, we’re talking about the willingness of homeowners to sell their homes. If an area is very tightly held, the owners don’t want to let go of their homes, and it can be years, even decades, in between sales for homes.

Usually, we’ll find tightly held pockets within suburbs – a street where a close community forms for example, where all the kids grow up together and the families want to live close to each other for longer. It’s not often that we find examples of an entire suburb being tightly held. Even more rare is to find multiple suburbs next to each other that rank amongst Australia’s most tightly held.?

That’s exactly what we have on the southside of Brisbane though, with Wishart and neighbouring Macgregor both being examples of suburbs where homeowners cling onto their properties for as long as possible.

How long, you ask?

Macgregor recently ranked in the top 10 most tightly held suburbs for houses in the whole country, coming in fourth position at 20.77 years on average between each house is sold. Wishart follows not far behind, with an average of 17.5 years between sales.?

As Wishart Real Estate Agents , we’re big fans of both these suburbs at The Henry Wong Team?, and I’ve been selling homes in them for many years now and have watched the demand for houses exponentially increase. Today I want to take a closer look at why Wishart, and it’s neighbours like Macgregor, are such desirable suburbs, and why you shouldn’t miss an opportunity to buy a home here.?

Why Wishart Homeowners Are Onto a Good Thing

From the strong community spirit to the convenient access to the city, Wishart offers an enticing combination of liveability factors. Excellent Schools and Education

We have some of the best schools in Queensland , even Australia, in and around Wishart. I myself attended Wishart State School and had a great experience, and that’s mirrored in all the other schools in the area. Wishart also sits in the catchment for Mansfield State High School , a consistent top 10 performer in Queensland state high schools. Other reputable schools include Brisbane Adventist College, Citipointe Christian College and St Catherine’s Primary, giving families multiple options for seriously high-quality education options.?

Wishart has parks galore. Big, green swathes of space that are enjoyed by families (and their pets!) of all sizes. There are big tracks, dog agility parks, barbeque areas, playgrounds, picnic spots, sporting facilities and so much more. The Bulimba Creek Bikeway is a favourite amongst locals for walking, jogging and cycling. It stretches across multiple suburbs, offering 33 kilometres of safe tracks to enjoy. Boorabin Picnic Ground is another Wishart favourite for families – be sure to check them out if you’re researching the area!?

The Community

Working and selling in this community, I can tell you that the friendly and neighbourly atmosphere is one of the main reasons people end up living in this area for so long. Community events come thick and fast, from community markets to park runs, helping bring people together and form lifestyle-enhancing bonds. Newcomers integrate easily and immediately feel at home, and the community [provides a safe, supportive environment for kids to grow up in.?

This is suburban living, without any sacrifices on your lifestyle. There are two major Westfield shopping centres nearby, Westfield Garden City and Westfield Carindale, providing you with boutique shopping options grocery stores and all the amenities you need.
