Wish for my (teenage) son

Once upon a time, in the not so distant past, there was a mother who quietly prayed and asked God to bless her with a baby. Not just any baby but a son who would ultimately become a best friend to his older brother.
This mother knew the magic of a close sibling bond because she grew up very close with her sister.
That night, the family got a call from an adoption agency. The conversation went something like this……”we know you aren’t looking to adopt……but, we are religious and believe that God told us to call you about an adoption.”
Coincidence?... We were leaving for vacation in 2 days time and I hadn’t revealed my prayer to anyone, including your father. I asked where this child was located and the agency replied, the baby was in a city that was 6 miles from where we were planning to stay on vacation.
Another coincidence?... Things seemed to fall into place too easily but I wasn’t completely convinced. At one point I questioned God, can you give me a sign that is meant to be? And do you know, as I looked up in the car, there on the highway in the horizon, shone a rainbow. Yet there was no rain. And no sun.
I’ve taken this job of your mother, very seriously as you know. Maybe sometimes a little too strict but I think you understand it’s with love.
I absolutely adore you. I am so proud to see the young man you are becoming. You have demonstrated a maturing work ethic, patience, kindness, and at times I even see empathy.
My wish for you my son, is that someday you experience first hand the power of being connected to something greater than yourself. That you discover miracles abound. That you put your faith in yourself and in God and trust that everything will work out, even when things seem grim. Part of our human experience is to struggle and suffer. Men and women spend a lifetime trying to rise above their own suffering. And they only do so when they realize that this moment is exactly as it should be. And remember if you need help, I’m always here.
You are a blessing. I hope you know your life is truly blessed. I feel honored that God has chosen me to be your mom. I love you.
Beautiful Karen, thanks for sharing! Hope you're well.
