Wish list of 2020 - Blues of a working mom
As we head for holidays and start looking back at our achievements, drafting new year's resolutions, I feel in the mood of a parody - using the song "I would like to change the world" (in French: le blues du businessman) - a popular French song from one of the most successful musicals, Starmania. A jab at social media and a call to be here, in the now with people around us and far. Happy new year to all of you and your loved ones, may 2020 bring you success, prosperity and good health!
BLUES OF A WORKING MOM
I’m successful in business [cleanliness]
I'm successful in love
I often change my secretary [shopping list]
My office is at the top of a tower [center of the world]
From there I see the city upside down [world crumbling down]
From there I control my universe [field reports]
I spend half my life in the air
Between New York and Singapore [D.C. and Tombouctou]
I always travel in first class [armored cars]
I have my secondary residence
In all the Hiltons of the Earth [hotels of the earth]
I can't stand poverty [inaction]
At least are you happy?
I'm not happy but I look it
I lost my sens of humor
Since I have business sense [mission sense]
I made it and I'm proud of it
In fact, I only have a single regret
I'm not doing what I wanted to do
What do you want my friend
In life we do what we can
Not what we want...
I wanted to be an artist [influencer]
To be able to do my act [fake my act]
When the plane lands on the runway
In Rotterdam or in Rio [Morocco or in Paris]
I wanted to be a singer [TedTalk speaker]
To be able to scream who I am [not]
I wanted to be a writer [blogger]
To be able to fabricate my [social media] life (bis)
I wanted to be an actor [Facebook post]
To change skin everyday
And to be able to think I'm handsome [awesome]
On a big [small] colored screen (bis)
I wanted to be an artist [influencer]
To have the world to remake [fake]
To be able to be an anarchist [conformist]
And live like a millionnaire (bis) [have a million likes]
I wanted to be an artist [influencer]
To be able to say why I exist [why poverty does not exist].
I wish you all of us an honest and authentic life with our loved ones, generous with those near and far. As mother Teresa said it "if you want to change the world, go home and love your family". Happy new year and enjoy the real song here:

5 年Thanks for the reflections, Lili. Authenticity and care for those directly around us come first and then concentric circles outwards on everyone else you influence. And you are an influencer :) Happy new year!
