A wish for a lifetime

Days roll into nights, into weeks and months,

In the flicker of the eye, a New Year here comes.

How much time is left to do all that is destined?

At the end, what is it that will placate the mind?

To have lived with intention, and made the right choices,

To have worked consistently, with no pride or prejudices,

To have counted one’s blessings, and to have been one for others,

To have not repeated mistakes, and acknowledged the grace that mothers.

?

To have kept one’s heart pleasant, like a freshly bloomed flower,

To have focussed one’s mind on the path, like the eye of the tiger,

To have nourished one’s body with reverence, like it’s the temple of the soul,

To have listened to one’s soul with humility, like one would listen to God.

?

I hope I feel that I had lived well, learnt the art of conscious living,

I hope I had remembered to slow down, integrated all the learning,

I hope I would feel contented enough, not have any grouses,

I hope I would have lived up to my greater and higher purposes.
