Amelia Sordell ?? shared her thoughts on whether you should let your employees post online:

We’d be lying if we said encouraging your team to build their personal brands didn’t come with a certain element of risk, namely the possibility of being poached.

If someone were to leave, it wouldn’t be because they posted content on LinkedIn. They’re more likely to leave because they’ve outgrown the role, the company has outgrown them, or they’re simply ready for a new challenge.

Your team's visibility and personal branding aren't threats; they're opportunities.

Consider these stats:

  • Employees can achieve 5x more reach than your company brand.
  • 92% of people say they trust individuals more than company brands.
  • Content shared on an individual's LinkedIn gets 24x more reshares than the same message from a company page.
  • Leads from personal brands convert 7x more frequently.

Is there still the risk of your team getting headhunted by posting more??

Absolutely. But as their personal brands grow, your employer brand gains more visibility. Better yet, if you actively support them through an advocacy programme, they're more likely to engage with your company, leading to better retention.

A CIPD survey from June found that 21% of the UK workforce stays in their job for two to five years. If you want to beat those odds and build long-term loyalty, here’s how.

We know, we know. It sounds counter-intuitive, and salary definitely is important, but when Wisdom surveyed 2,000 employees, salary came in seventh on their list of priorities. Guess what came out on top?

Poor leadership.?

Numbers two and three were tied to broader economic issues such as company layoffs, and number four? A lack of appreciation.

Here’s how you can leverage this data: increase the positive face time between leaders and early talent. Use those moments for authentic conversations that recognise great performance and build real connections. This will allow your talent teams to feel connected to their leaders (tick!), as well as feeling appreciated (tick, tick!).

Investing in your team's professional development isn't just a nice-to-have; it's a must-do. Whether it's through training programs, mentoring, or providing opportunities to tackle new challenges, showing your people that you're invested in their growth pays dividends in loyalty and retention.?

If you’ve got the budget, provide personal L&D pots for courses. If not, set up an internal mentoring initiative so younger talent can learn from those they aspire to be.

After all, when people see a future for themselves within your organisation, they're far more likely to stick around for the long haul.

Unlock the power of your purpose by helping your people to see how their work drives the business towards its goals. Organisations that articulate a clear, compelling vision—and show how each team member's efforts contribute to that vision—win big on loyalty. It's about creating a culture where work isn't just work; it's a mission, a collective endeavour towards a shared goal.?

When people feel part of something meaningful, their connection to the company deepens, fuelling loyalty and driving retention.

The quality of our work will always matter more to us than the number of awards on our shelves. But, to live our value ‘Be Real’ — winning awards feels pretty good, and we’ll never turn down an excuse to don a black tie.

Two years ago, after sitting on the The RAD Awards judging panel, our Head of Brand launched the Trophy Cabinet: a team of Wiser leaders who are passionate about winning and ready to go above and beyond to bring home the gold. And it’s paying off.

Since our last newsletter, we made our way to the Employer Brand Management Awards. Amidst a three-course meal and a few glasses of champagne, we were thrilled to take home four Golds for our work with King , Trainline , 亨氏 , and National Grid ESO .

After the wins, we caught up with Sam Badcock , Wiser’s Social Lead, to uncover what makes an award-winning social media strategy.

Our Employer Brand and Early Talent strategists headed down the road to Angel for #LondonLive24 with IHR - In-house Recruitment to meet People Leads, Head of Talent and HR Directors alike.?

This time, we built our activation around curing pain points. As such, we went ham on the health, giving out ClassPass vouchers, spa breaks, healthy snacks and wellness candles.

  • Candidate pipeline feeling under the weather??
  • Employee engagement needing a booster shot??
  • Culture catching a cold??
  • Diversity efforts in critical condition??

Attendees were invited to Wiser’s stand to heal their employer brand pains—with a few lucky winners along the way! The show-stopping prize, which is still open for entries, is a pair of Oasis tickets.

Client Strategy Lead Oscar Sadler took to the main stage with Cat Barnfather , Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand Partner at McCain. Together, they shared our employer brand partnership through the years, and how we've grown their EB from the ground up.?
