A wise man I know said,

"School has begun for some, and about to begin for others. Statistically, here in America, there will be a school shooting.

After you've coaxed them out of bed. After the hustling and bustling. After the breakfast, and the 1000th time of telling them, "You need to hurry up" but just before they walk out that door, hug them. Kiss them. Lay your hands on them and cover them with your love and protection.

When they walk through the door or you're seeing and hearing them for the first time since that morning, pause and listen. Then go into the silence of your bedroom and breathe "Thank You" for that day. For provisions were given to you from whatever deity you believe in, or don't believe in.

Take. That. Moment. To speak life over them. That no evil shall befall them. That they will be shown favor from their head to their toes. That strongholds will be torn down before them. That their comings and goings shall not be hindered. That no weapon shall prosper against them. That they shall not fear any person. That they may be honored by their peers. That they shall come to know a peace that surpasses all understanding. That their way shall be made straight, and their path shall be clear. That they shall be covered under a hedge of protection from the rising of the sun, until the going down of the same.

May these words fall upon my children's children and all children as they embark on a new journey into a new school year.
