A Wise Comedian Once Said...

Why can't you hear a Pterodactyl in the bathroom?

The P is silent.

Now that's pfunny!

Ok maybe not so much...but speaking of funny, I recently read an article about Jerry Seinfeld and the success principles he goes by when writing comedy.

It struck me how similar those principles were to writing content for your marketing.

‘Fer examples…

1. Always Be Writing

Comedians are always writing. Ideas and thoughts constantly swirl in their head. They put words to them and jot them in notebooks.

2. Keep Your Eyes Open

Jerry Seinfeld turns observations about the world around him into new material. His “content radar” is always on. A content radar helps you take everyday occurrences and observations and create content with them.

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Get Real

Some of the best material comedians develop is self-deprecating. In the same way, we shouldn’t be afraid to get real with our market.?While a comedian’s goal is to make people laugh, your writing strives for a variety of outcomes: knowledge, insight, emotion, etc.

Whatever the goal, inject yourself into your writing. Authentic and personal writing captures the reader’s attention and provides depth to your message.

In the world of business and marketing, a newsletter can help you realize these success principles. Not only do you grow as a person, your business benefits by having a proven marketing asset that connects you with your market and establishes you as a trusted, approachable and knowledgeable authority among them.?

The Zine Newsletter Program is structured around these principles. We’ve addressed the typical encumbrances and pitfalls that plague lawyers who want to do newsletters, but haven’t started. Or who started but gave up. If that stirs you, then there is more here.
