Hello friends,
Oxford Dictionary defines ‘Wisdom’ as: “The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise; the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the body of knowledge and principles that develops within a specified society or period.” In other words, Wisdom is to know how to do a thing the right way.
All of the above is true, but it is not explaining where the wisdom comes from. Do you know that wisdom is older than this World? It has been there before the beginning of space and time. Our Universe, I believe, was created by an intelligent designer and wisdom is in every creation. We possess it as part of our design but we just need to enable it, to turn it on.
Let’s look at the unemployment situation right now, affecting millions of people all over the world. What do we need to find a new opportunity, to get to an interview, and to be able to get the offer? Some will say – “a lot of luck” – and that’s why we are wishing each other most of the time “Good Luck!” before we go to the next interview. But is it luck that we need, or there is something else there? We need to work hard, and most of the time we can figure out our final goal and target. However, without knowing WHAT exactly we need to do, or HOW to do it, our hard work can just go in vain without bringing in return any of the desired results. So, to answer these two questions we need experience and pieces of advice from people who have been already there, we need their wisdom. In one of the Proverbs, it is written: “So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.” If we take the interview as an analog to a battlefield, then to win this battle and to get the trophy of the job offer we need first to ask many wiser and more experienced than us people such as Job and Interview Coaches, Recruiters, Consultants, Friends who have experienced before similar situations in life. We need to get their knowledge and apply it to our situation to increase our chances for success.
Wisdom is more precious than gold and sweeter than honey. Another Proverbs verse says: “…wisdom is sweet to our soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short.” But wisdom must be practiced – it must be put into action. Knowledge without any action is useless. The knowledge is just like the bullets and our actions are like the rifle. If we don’t have the rifle, we cannot do much with the bullets, isn’t it? In other words, we cannot sit and be lazy, we need to work hard after we learn and we already know what to do. The wise teaching from Proverbs continues: “…A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest – then the poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber…”. We must realize that everything is in our hands and it depends on our choices on what to do with the acquired knowledge.
Lastly, we cannot become too proud. After having some knowledge, it is normal to feel more powerful. However, we must humble ourselves because nobody in this world knows everything, and we shall continue to respect the people around us, learn from them and share our knowledge with them in love and with a willingness to help. Yet another Proverb says: “…Do not be wise in your own eyes...”. Being wise in our own eyes doesn’t lead to anything good, it just leads to pride, selfishness, hatred, and evil. The last proverb I would like to share says it very clearly: “…Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others too...”. We need to be able to put the needs and priorities of others before ourselves, to always try to help them, and only then we can experience true joy, peace, and have real success in life…
In summary, we must first ASK wiser and more knowledgeable and experienced people than us and LEARN from them, then apply the knowledge and DO it in our life, and finally, SHARE our experiences with the others and try to help them.
What are your thoughts about wisdom? Please share in the comments below…????.
THANK YOU ALL! ????
