Musings during the times of Covid-19. Ramblings that may resonate. Not in any particular order. Please feel free to add your own.
- One wrong leader can bring the strongest nation of the world to its knees.
- The Western world we idolised isn’t as developed as we were made to believe.
- The Third World War inadvertantly ignited in China and it won it without a single bullet being fired.
- Family is more important than anything else in the world.
- Our home is the world’s safest zone.
- The developing world and within which the economically challenged have better developed immunity than the more prosperous.
- We Indian males should learn & participate more in the housekeeping chores, makes for happier families.
- Expensive wardrobes & cosmetics mean zilch in a real crisis.
- It really isn’t that necessary to travel & move around, life can be pretty productive & enjoyable without it.
- The real cost of living is really, really low.
- Without humans the planet does better.
- Not a single temple, church, mosque, gurudwara or any other place of worship, or their priests are immune to such a catastrophy. If they can’t save themselves, they really have very little to offer to human beings. High time we stop killing each other in their name.
- There will always be two kinds of human beings; one who would be ready to die in service of others & the second who are so selfish they would buy off everything available without giving a thought for others, because- money. The richer the worse.
- Work from home works. At least for many of us. We don’t need to therefore overload the planet with expensive real estate, air-conditioning, commute & all the other material stuff which ultimately makes for all that is called ‘unsustainable living’.
- The planet repairs itself pretty rapidly once the human intervention stops. It wouldn’t make any difference to the planet if the human race disappears completely, in fact, it would thrive better.
- The countries that blackmail the world because of their crude oil resources are very vulnerable and may soon be irrelevant.
- The world needs more healthcare professionals than all the soldiers, models, fashionistas, sports-stars etc put together.
- As a corollary the world needs more hospitals & care facilities than the grandiose parliaments, statues, armouries & arms manufacturing facilities.
- Most education can easily happen online, we don’t need huge buildings & zillions of school-buses polluting our cities.
- The less we are outside, the less crime there is. The smaller the police force we need, leaner the judicial systems, the smaller the prisons we need. Resources that can be better used.
- Over-consumption is an addiction which is curable with a fortnight's quarantining.
- That the most intelligent & powerful species on the planet can be brought to the brink by a string of molecules in the grey zone between the living & non-living should be a humbling lesson.
